    Sensorium × Lovely Experience
    Nádvorie

Mini conference on art, design, science and technology in partnership with Lovely Experience festival in Trnava opens up the theme of New Sensibility – new sense of the post-digital age. Technology changed our life in a way which we are not familiar with. Society is experiencing many symptoms of the digital revolution directly, without warning. Effects of digitalisation and possible technocracy are different than our (missing) visions about them.

We have invited Irini Papadimitriou, curator and cultural manager whose practice draws on interdisciplinary and critical discourse to explore the impact of technology in society and culture, and the role of art in helping us engage with contemporary issues. Her curatorial research areas include technology and ethics, surveillance society, digital citizenship and public (physical-digital) realm. Irini will guide us through the topics of systems of control and in particular architecture of algorithmic systems and aesthetics of automation (exploring hidden labour, reinforcement of racial and gendered structures). Even though she currently acts as a Creative Director at FutureEverything, an innovation lab and arts organisation in Manchester, she previously worked as a Digital Programmes Manager and Head of New Media Arts Development at Watermans, curating their exhibitions programme.

Another guest, astrobiologist Michaela Musilová, will open topics such as possibilities of extraterrestrial living and the importance of empathy during crisis situations. Michaela is a Director of the HI-SEAS research station for the International MoonBase Alliance, where simulated missions to the Moon and Mars are performed. Michaela will introduce us to the possibilities for living and working beyond Earth, and the important role of empathy in crisis situations.

    Format: online talks

This non-formal education organisation combines technology, art and design as well as other disciplines and is a fresh holder of Pris Ars Electronica for Digital Communities. Rachel will in her online talk tune us into rethinking technology, society, and self and expand on what does one have to do with the other anyway...

Local scene will be represented by Mária Júdová, international visual artist who has been investigating the creative potential of technology for over a decade. She is particularly interested in exploring the meeting point of digital and performance arts. Tabačka Kulturfabrik

Mini conference on art, design, science and technology in partnership with Art & Tech Days in Košice opens up the theme of New Sensibility - new sense of the post-digital age. Technology changed our life in a way which we are not familiar with. Society is experiencing many symptoms of the digital revolution directly, without warning. Effects of digitalisation and possible technocracy are different than our (missing) visions about them.

Hyphen Labs (UK) is a London based design studio and an international collective exploring absurdities that emerge at the intersection of technology, art, science, and the future. It uses design to challenge conventions and stimulate conversations, placing planetary needs and collective experiences at the centre of their current evolving narratives. Their creative director Carmen Aguilar y Wedge (USA/MX) and design researcher Romy Gad el Rab (EG/UK) are the main actors of this multicultural female collective. Through their projects, they will take you on a journey through the wildest imaginations about the future in their online talk.

Local scene will be represented by an artist, essayist and cultural manager Samuel Velebný. In his project Road to Quatar, Samuel thematizes global socio-economic contexts of the so-called “Media sport”, network of relationships on the background of the soccer industry. The involvement of media technology into the world of soccer is not only an augmentation of soccer into the world but also meaning of the world soccer itself - originally a physical game with certain meaning for communities has become a global media commodity and a tool for geopolitical fight. The dessert world championships in Quatar in 2022 are a cruel outfall of this turnover.

We are happy that MATSUKO, the creator of the holographic communication, will be part of our special event. MATSUKO will present the future of the world’s communication. You will have a unique chance to take part in the development of the technology by capturing your mimics and head movement. As a bonus, you can try special glasses and get lost in the mixed reality, too. Matsuko is the creator of the holographic communication that fills in the missing element in video conferences - our presence. Using just a single camera, it enables you to be anywhere, real-time, real space, no travel needed. This technology brings people closer, improves relationships, thus collaboration while zeroing down the environmental impact.
